We all know that being taken out to an amazing meal can be memorable. Just as memorable as impressions, if you’re trying to close that deal or get that long-awaited promotion, think about spoiling your boss or client to a good meal. Now i am not just talking about a fast food 2 for $5 special. Think outside the box, be creative. People want to feel special, they want to be fussed over, so fuss!

  • Do your homework

Before your lunch meeting, do some homework on that person and find out what kinds of foods they like or if there are any restaurants they mentioned they wanted to try, don’t be afraid to use social media to help you with that homework. You’ll be surprised how much personal information people post.

  • Dress to Impress

You want to look like you have everything going for you, the first thing      they will see are your clothes and appearance so ensure you have your best outfit on.

  • Table manners

The last thing you want is for the person you’re meeting with to be grossed out by the way you’re eating. Table manners are key at making a good impression. Be polite, let them order first and use your cutlery properly

  • Pay the check

If you have invited someone out to lunch, you pay. It doesn’t matter if that person is a millionaire. Avoid that awkward 2-way grab for the check and the “no I got it “phrases. Take charge, take the check and pay. If you want to be ahead of that, when the meeting is done, get up and excuse yourself and go pay the check.

  • Follow up

Taking someone out for lunch is one thing but they won’t run after you to give you their business, so follow up. Call them the next day and thank them for taking the time to meet with you.
